The Cascade Cream Puff is one of the toughest 100 mile mountain bike races in the nation. Until recently when the registration limit was increased it use to sell out in a matter of days. It is still a guaranteed sell out but more people are able to celebrate it every year. For most, it isn't about winning, it is about finishing.
On Thursday we got a call at 10 pm wondering if we would be able to shoot the Cream Puff on Sunday. This has been an event that I have been wanting to shoot since I have been taking photos. Being sponsored to shoot the even made it possible to do it this year. Thanks to the Cascade Cream Puff all medium resolution photos are free for non-commercial use.
Waking up at 4 am is hard enough, but needing to be mentally cable of taking photos in less than idea light and conditions is a challenge. Lasting another 13 hours to cover the whole event was insane. Matt and I didn't even want to think about taking another photo or even looking at what we shot when the day was done. When we finally had the mental capability to look at the photos we were quite surprised that so many decent shots came out. Click on the jump to see highlights.
