Wildwood Trail Trial 10k

September 24th, 2008

Trail runner

A few weeks ago we were able to help our friend Brian out shooting the Wildwood Trail Trial 10k put on by ORRC.  This was a relaxed 10k for most runners in Forest Park.  Runners went off every 30 second in groups of 4.  Matt and I just planted ourselves along the trail and shot people as they went by.  Being under the cover of so many large trees made lighting a bit difficult, but we managed.  Click to see [more…]

Another Fine Mess @ Ash Street Saloon

Another Fine Mess - Brian Owens

We all know people that are in bands, especially being in Portland.  Some of these bands are cover bands, some are bands that write their own material; some play when hired, some work their asses off; some are good, some are not so good.

Another Fine Mess is a co-workers band and they fall under the category of good new indie rock band that just may be the hardest working new bad around.  For musicians that have day jobs and families, they will be playing more in the coming months than most new bands do in this area due in a year.  The few reviews that have been mentioned are favorable.  So if you are our and about Portland and you come across a bar that Another Fine Mess is playing, drop on in.  You won’t be disappointed.   To see a few photos click [more…]

Parkour in Portland

Parkour at Keller Fountain.

Parkour is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body. It is meant to help one overcome obstacles, which can be anything in the surrounding environment—from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls—and can be practiced in both rural and urban areas. Parkour practitioners are referred to as traceurs.  - wikipedia.com

We got a chance to shoot a local Parkour group at Keller Fountain with the PDX Strobist group.  Click to see [more…]

Kruger’s Kermesse Farm Crit Series

Kruger’s Kermesse Farm Crit Series

Just in time to start thinking about cross season, Portland’s Racing presents the Kruger’s Kermesse Fram Crit Series.  Our photos of the second race have been posted.  We were first introduced to Kruger’s farm in recent years by Portland’s Racing Kruger’s Crossing.  Kris decided to expand from cross at the farm and brought the kermesse.  Riders found the kermesse race to be faster and bumper than the crossing.  To see some highlights, click on more.  [more…]

Sport Portrait: Hilary Billington

Hilary Billington

The other day Hilary Billington open her garage and allowed us to capture some photos of her and her family.  Hilary rides for Veloforma and took 5th place at the National Road Championship.  Pretty good placing for a relative unknown.  I think Hilary will be representing Oregon well on the national circuit next year.

Thank you Hilary for your time and patience with us.  Click on more to see more photos of Hilary. [more…]

Creek Crossing at McCubbin’s Gulch Scramble

A few weeks back we were hired to shoot a running event for a photographer friend of ours, Brian  Conaghan.  We have worked several times with Brian in the past year and always enjoy the break from shooting cycling to shoot running.  Trail runners in particular are hams for the camera.  They see a camera and they are going to break out in some type of pose.  Click on more to see a slide-show of the day’s highlights.      [more…]
